2018 HIGHLAND GAMES NEAR SHENVAL ORGANIC B&B IN SCOTLAND

 

A mere 7 miles (12kms) from your holiday accommodation base at Shenval organic Bed and Breakfast,  the village of Drumnadrochit, on the shores of Loch Ness, plays host to the Glenurquhart Highland Gathering and Games, on the 4th Saturday in August, at Blairbeg Park (25 August in 2018).
Putting the Shott, Throwing the Hammer, Throwing 28lb Weight - Distance, Weight Over Bar, Tossing the Caber, Tug of War, Hill Race, Piping with both Traditional Pipe Band and Piping competition, Highland Dancing Display, Field and track events, Cycling including De'il Tak the Hindmost...

The Glenurquhart Highland Gathering and Games are not by any means the only Highland Gatherings and Games easily accessible from Shenval organic Bed & Breakfast, near Loch Ness. Saturday 18, HELMSDALE Highland Games, Couper Park, Running, Heavy Weights, Solo Piping, Light Field, Highland Dance. Special Event: Scottish Hill Race Championship.

Saturday 18, GLENFINNAN Highland Games in the shadow of the Glenfinnan Monument and the Harry Potter viaduct, a beautiful day’s outing 90mns from your accommodation base at Shenval Bed&Breakfast.

Saturday 25, our own local Games, ten minutes' drive from Shenval B&B, near Loch Ness, the GLENURQUHART Highland Gathering and Games will be held at Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit, 10.30-17.00. Local Events start at 10.30am and Open Events at 1.30pm. Highland games with pipe band, piping competitions, heavy events, field and track events, cycling, tug o’ war, stalls and shows.  More details at the top of this page.

SEPTEMBER

Saturday 15, INVERCHARRON Highland Games, Balblair Farm by Bonar Bridge. Traditionally the final games of the year, many of the Scottish Highland Games Association league results are decided at Invercharron, making it one of the most exciting of the season. Heavy events, piping competitions, Highland dancing, track and field, hill and children’s races, tug o’ war and cycling all feature in this fun-packed day, with a variety of stalls and amusements.
